Where the time and money go today

Most operators do not lose hours on the sale itself. They lose them after: an over-limit ticket that should never have completed, a return that does not add up at tax time, a void that erased the original, a Metrc package that does not match the till, a week of reconstruction before an examiner arrives.

CannaTempo is built so those repairs are unnecessary. The counter is slower to say yes and much faster to defend.

How it helps a licensed business

• Over-limit sales die at the counter. Massachusetts adult-use and medical allowances are enforced on the server. A 60 g flower ticket cannot complete. That is cheaper than a recall, a write-down, or a Commission finding.
• The three marijuana taxes are calculated once and stated separately. Excise, state sales tax, and the local option appear on the receipt the way DOR expects. The return is a read of the ledger, not a rebuild.
• A mistake is corrected, not erased. The original sale stays. A reversing sale carries the reason and what became of the goods. An examiner sees both. Staff stop fixing history at a SQL prompt.
• Transaction numbers do not skip. Each premises has a gapless sequence. A missing number is evidence, not a software quirk. That is what a gapless till is for.
• The package is the unit of truth. What you sell, waste, or transfer is a package with a test status and a market — not a catalogue row that drifted away from the state’s tag.

What is live in the lab now

A Massachusetts adult-use till on a hash-chained sales ledger: scan or search, itemised tax, purchase-limit and potency engines, ID attestation with nothing stored about the customer, corrections, and waste. You can empty the lab and start sequence numbers at 1 until you type GO LIVE. After that, the ledger is not reset.

What is being built next

The same package record, earlier in the life of the plant.

• Cultivation and production — harvest and manufacture become packages the till already knows how to sell, not a second inventory in a grow tool.
• Lab testing — pass, fail, and remediate arrive as the package’s test status. An untested package cannot be sold. We do not invent a passing result.
• Metrc as a correlation, not a second set of books. Their tag lives beside our record. Sales, waste, and receiving reconcile to the state instead of being keyed twice. That work waits on Metrc’s vendor sandbox key.

The point of that path is fewer hours in two systems that disagree, and fewer write-offs when they are reconciled too late.

What this is not

It is not a card processor. The till does not capture cards. It is not an online grocery storefront. Ordering, when it comes, will be CannaTempo’s own surface so an async web order cannot outrun a purchase limit. It is not a replacement for Metrc — it is the record Metrc should be able to agree with.
